The Vineyard Market agrees with this cowboy saying from the Old West. We have an excellent variety of whiskey to suit your tastes. Strong for “those” days, smokey to have with a nice cigar, oaky to wash away the work, and mixed cocktails for funsies. However, I have to suggest High West.
High West Distillery and Saloon is based out of Park City, Utah and is the first legal Distillery since 1870. That’s before Prohibition, folks! David, cofounder of High West, was inspired after he visited a Kentucky distillery to start his own, and his love for the Old West had him move with his partner in business and life, Jane to Utah. So you can taste that Old West feel we have brought in some Highly Allocated bottles for you all! Here’s our lineup:
High West Bourbon
One of the staples of the High West Distillery is a blend of straight bourbon whiskeys. It’s aged in charred White American Oak barrels for a minimum of two years. Once it’s in your glass you’ll get lovely whiffs of caramel, vanilla, and honey. On the palate you’ll experience notes of candy corn, honied nougat, and earthy oak.

High West Campfire Whiskey
Campfire is a blend of Scotch, Bourbon, and Rye whiskeys. Given it’s name for the sweet, spicy, smokey flavor. This whiskey was actually inspired by a dessert. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, a dessert. The Perkins were visiting a fellow distillery and the ladies there made them a special dessert: Honeydew melon and peated whiskey syrup, and voila that inspired them to make Campfire. From the bourbon you’ll get notes of honey, toffee, and caramel. From the Rye you’ll find floral and fruity notes like jasmine, blackberries, and chai spices. Then wrapping it up and bringing it all together the peated Scotch you get leather, pine, and tobacco smoke.

High West Rendezvous Rye
For all you Rye drinkers, this is a must try! This is High West’s flagship. With a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, it’s set up to outrun most ryes on the market coming in at 51-53% rye. Be prepared though! On the nose you have nice aromas of poached pear, orange peel, ginger, lavender, and sandalwood. Followed by the tastes of persimmon, apricot, snickerdoodle, ginger, walnut, and caramel.

High West Missouri Barrel Picks
This is super excited friends! High West designated a whole barrel of each of the following just to Missouri. The Vineyard Market using High West Bourbon as our house bourbon got pretty high allocation on some of these!
High West Cask Strength
That’s right! Missouri got its own special barrel of Cask Strength! A blend of straight bourbon whiskeys that is a true whiskey treat! On the nose, you get aromas of sweet red apple, maple, walnuts, and thyme. Then on the palate, you’ll find notes of apple pie, caramet, nougat, and tobacco.

High West Cask Strength Finished in Cabernet Barrels
This special barrel is super exciting for us. As a winery we love seeing the experiments our suppliers come up with, and this definitely fits the bill. The same blend as above, only it’s aged in barrels that were first used to age Cabernet Sauvignon wine. This brings a whole new twist to the flavor profile that just lights up the senses! You’ll taste notes of red velvet, rosemary, dark fruit such as plum, and hickory.

High West Double Rye Brandy Barrel Aged
This Missouri pick is so fun, and we only have ONE BOTTLE LEFT! High west has taken their double rye blend and aged in Brandy barrels. This whiskey is a blend of two ryes that are aged for at least two years! Hence the name “Double Rye”. The first rye brings in flavors of baking spices, eucalyptus, and evergreen. The second compliments the first with notes of caramel and vanilla. After aging in the Brandy barrel, it brings in new notes that once again baffles the senses. Still floral as a rye should be but a spicy sweet that makes this bottle a must have.

High West Double Rye Aquavit Barrel Aged
A second twist on High West’s Double Rye! This Missouri Barrel pick includes the blend from above only instead of aged in Brandy barrels it’s aged in Aquavit barrels. Aquavit is a Scandinavian liqueur whose name means “Water of Life”. A grain or potato distilled liqueur that is herb flavored. This gives the Double Rye an herbaceous variation. Adding to the notes of baking spice, eucalyptus, evergreen, caramel, and vanilla. You could find a little thyme, oregano, or rosemary.
