September brings two very different cigars to Cigar Society, giving members a chance to explore two distinct takes on craftsmanship, progression, and bold flavor.
This month, we are featuring the Casa Carrillo Ascend and the Camacho Limited Edition 2026. One is a new addition to the Casa Carrillo lineup built around the idea of a gradual climb in flavor. The other celebrates more than three decades of Camacho blending expertise with a Limited Edition created as a tribute to the woman who has helped shape the brand for nearly 40 years.
Casa Carrillo Ascend
The newest addition to the Perez-Carrillo Series, Ascend was introduced in 2026 as a regular-production cigar built around the idea of progression. The blend combines an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder from Estelí and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, all crafted at the Casa Carrillo factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The blend was developed to evolve gradually, allowing each stage of the smoke to reveal another dimension of the tobacco.
Ascend brings notes of cedar, roasted nuts, earth, coffee, baking spice and natural sweetness to the experience, with the character becoming richer as the cigar progresses. A smooth bourbon makes a natural companion, bringing out the cigar’s coffee, oak and subtle sweetness while complementing its spice and earthy character.
For September Cigar Club, Ascend gives us an opportunity to slow down and pay attention to how a cigar changes from the first draw through the final third. It is a cigar built around progression, making it a fun one to experience together.
Camacho Limited Edition 2026
The Camacho Limited Edition 2026 takes a different approach. This release celebrates 35 years of Camacho boldness while putting the spotlight on the brand’s female Master Blender in Honduras, whose work has helped shape Camacho cigars for nearly four decades. The cigar is presented as a direct expression of her craft and the experience behind the brand’s blends.
The story behind the cigar is just as notable as the cigar itself. Camacho describes her as someone who has been part of the decisions shaping the brand for more than 35 years, with a reputation for experience, discipline, and uncompromising standards.
Camacho’s suggested coffee pairing is an espresso macchiato, which works alongside the cigar’s spice while complementing notes of earth, leather and dry wood. As the smoke develops, creaminess moves forward before herbal notes and baking spice take over toward the finish.
For our September Cigar Club crowd, we’re taking the spirit of Camacho’s second suggested pairing and putting a whiskey spin on it. A well-aged bourbon brings sweetness and warm oak to the table, offering a great match for the cigar’s pepper, spice, leather and dry wood while complementing the creamy character that develops through the middle of the smoke.
