Springing into Cigar Society
Cigar Society Newsletter April 2025
Welcome, fellow cigar lovers, friends, and rascals. As you know, for our Cigar Society, we do our best to bring you the best. That can take the form of limited editions, highly allocated boxes, or new releases. Well, for this month, we are celebrating two brand-new releases.
Room101 15th Anniversary
The Cigar
Created by the founder Matt Booth and the name everyone in the cigar industry knows, A.J. Fernandez, the 15th Anniversary cigar is a limited-edition Nicaraguan puro(the tobacco all comes from the same country) to mark this milestone for the brand! This cigar is all about deep layers of flavor and balance. It starts off with notes of butter and creaminess, and as you smoke, the deeper notes of the Nicaraguan tobacco start to come through with cocoa and pepper, giving you almost a spicy-sweet vibe.
Pairing: We have a few suggestions for you today. For those of you who love whiskey, and we know who you are… we suggest a Scotch with a cask finish such as the Balvenie Caribbean Cask. Speaking of the Caribbean, our second suggestion is a well-aged rum. Think Flor De Cana or, for something more available, Real McCoy Prohibition. Lastly, if you’re really wanting to warm your bones for those last few chilly nights, try this cigar with a Hot Buttered Rum.
Room101
Matt Booth founded Room101 in 2003, inspired by a fusion of Asian culture—discovered during his time as a U.S. Marine in Asia—and the edgy silver scene of Los Angeles. What began as a custom jewelry brand quickly evolved into a full-fledged lifestyle collection rooted in artistic vision and streetwise grit. By 2009, Booth had fallen in love with cigar making, channeling his passion into crafting premium cigars that reflect his unique aesthetic and dedication to the craft. Today, Room101 includes custom jewelry, leather goods, cigars, and even a craft gin—cementing its place as a one-of-a-kind, ever-evolving lifestyle brand.
CAO FASA Sombra
The Cigar
The third installment of the CAO FASA line was made in the Dominican Republic. It features an Ecuadorian Shade wrapper, a Cameroon binder, and a blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan flavors. This cigar was made to be enjoyed at any time of day, so it is both functional and newbie-friendly. As with the previous cigar, expect some butteriness or creaminess, but instead of the spicy-sweetness, you’ll get notes of toasted almonds, cedar, and white pepper.
Pairing: We’ve got some fun pairings for this one as well. Starting off for those whiskey lovers, we suggest a lighter-bodied bourbon such as Basil Hayden. For more of a brunchy-afternoon vibe, a Champagne would also pair nicely. Then to finish off, for those who wish to branch out a little, try this cigar with a gin. Don’t worry; you can turn it into a cocktail, such as our First Lady, if you’re a little nervous.
CAO FASA Line
CAO is driven by a passion for exceptional tobacco, they’ve traveled the globe—from the Amazon to the Andes, and the Dominican valleys to Nicaraguan volcanoes—in search of the finest, rarest leaves. Along the way, we’ve learned that when you remove limits and borders, you create a truly unmatched tobacco experience.
Enter the FASA line. This trilogy is a bold three-part cigar series designed to give smokers a full range of flavor experiences through three distinct wrappers: Sombra, Sol, and Noche.
Together, these three expressions— Sombra (shade), Sol (sun), and Noche (night)—represent a complete spectrum of taste, body, and character, giving smokers the freedom to choose their vibe.
Smoking Even If It’s Storming
We all know the cliche, “April showers bring May flowers.” Well, in Southwest Missouri, that means it’s storming until at least June. We’ve got you covered, though, with our Mayor’s Cigar Lounge. Join us in this completely separate room with state-of-the-art ventilation, and enjoy your cigars even when spring storms roll in. With that thought in mind, we’ve got some amazing events for you to be a part of:
- Ladies Cigar Night → Wednesday, April 23rd
- Cigar & Spirits Tasting → Thursday, April 24th
- Cellar Society Members’ Monday → Monday, May 5th
See you in soon, friends! Sip, Smoke, Savor!
